Did You Know You Should Be Cleaning For Your Health?

@sam.tahan

Small changes that make a big difference: it starts at home.

Have you ever just been feeling down but you didn’t know why… well have you looked around? We know the importance of food and the healthy lifestyle practices that positively impact the sanctity of our minds, the cleansing of our gut, and of course the swinging of our mood; but if the past (almost) five years have shown us anything, it is that your home environment is your sanctuary. So maybe, a clean living space can level up more than your happiness meter. Registered dietitian / nutritionist and creator of  The Well Society, Sam Tahan, is spilling how the state of your home can impact your physical health, as well as your quality of life. “This is such an important part of wellness, but also very overlooked. The benefits of a clean home are both mental AND physical.”

Breathe in, breathe out.

It may seem obvious, but let’s be real, your respiratory system is not your first thought when cleaning your home. A clean space can help with allergies, asthma and inflammation. “When you have a clean environment you are clearing away dust on a regular basis so it’s great for lung health, and health in general.” But don’t forget that the cleaning products you use matter as well, one of our favorite non-toxic brands is Branch Basics

Clock in.

“The more tidy your environment is the better you can focus and the more productive you are.” I guess it is true what they say, a cluttered mind home will never lead you to a clear path.

Happiness is HOME-made.

“A clean space promotes relaxation and joy, which is exactly what you should feel in your home.” An added bonus, a tidy living space is also shown to improve your sleep, and we all know the importance sleep has on our mental capacity scale.

Want to know some easy ways to start?

Sam Tahan’s QUICK Tips to Tidy Up:

  1. Always put things back in the same place you got them.

  2. Declutter! Get rid of anything you don’t really need, that will do a lot.

  3. I always love it to smell good so candles and non-toxic home sprays are a must for me. I love Homecourt products.

  4. In my home, I love making it feel lived in, but also very curated. The same way you feel when you travel to a nice location is how I want to feel every day. Keep books around you, keep blankets around you, keep art around you and keep yummy food around you.
