The Story of Claire

Digital influencer Claire Rose Is a self-proclaimed crazy internet person – being one-hundred percent authentic – her social media life is nothing short of rollercoaster moments.

We have all wondered what it would be like to travel around the world creating beautifully curated content and working with the brands we admire. Over the last couple of years, social media sensation and Amsterdam’s It-girl Claire Rose has made this dream a reality. Her secret? Less is more. Finding happiness in simpler things. From building a wardrobe of opulent clothing, dining at five-star restaurants and capturing post-worthy content, Rose has been living effortlessly in New York City. Discovering her love of the fashion industry at an early age, it was her experience with a childhood hearing impairment that sparked her interest in the visual art of apparel curation and insta-worthy composition. “Naturally,” heartened Rose. “From an early age, I was very dependent on visual stimulation. I was always observing people’s behavior, from the way they dressed to how that made them feel. I started concentrating on the things I could do, instead of the things I couldn’t do. Never take no for an answer.” Finding inspiration to build from for her on-and-off duty style, Rose's minimalist style is heavily derived from the streets and city subways of New York City to vintage Hollywood films and photographs of her mother.

Stocking her lust-worthy wardrobe with the perfect blend of soft muted tones, you will undoubtedly discover the sustainable and the timeless. “My go-to look would be a pair of Levi’s, a tank top topped with a blazer with Gucci loafers and a chic bag. My go-to beauty look is sun-kissed skin. Looking as if I 'spent 30-minutes on my makeup without noticing' type of minimalism,” laughed Rose. While her makeup completes the look, confusing to most, makeup many don’t notice. So, what is the point? “In the States, women put a lot of effort into trying to look perfect and pristine. European fashion does not have that sense of shiny perfection. [In Europe] women embrace their imperfections and avoid trying too hard. The makeup aesthetic tends to be clean and simple.”

With both dream destinations to call home, offering drastically different lifestyles, what enticed the radical move from bucket list Amsterdam to iconic New York City? “I’ve always loved New York," Rose explained. "It’s a city full of life, excitement and, well, just like that famous song goes, 'it’s a concrete jungle where dreams are made.' There is an entrepreneurial and ‘survival of the fittest’ energy. Go big or go home.” Falling flawlessly into today's less-than-conventional career of social media influencer, Rose values the freedom to do whatever she wants, wherever she wants, whenever she wants. “Social media made it possible for me to be a stylist, travel agency, model, creative director, photographer, and makeup artist, all at the same time.” Working all these demanding roles herself can make for extremely hectic days, typically including meetings with brands and PR agencies, cleaning out emails, organizing concepts and shoots, designing and creating mood boards for capsule collections, organizing trips, styling must-see outfits, traveling for shoots and events and carrying a million packages home from the mailbox.

Even with her newfound fame, Rose remains aware to always be herself. “I’m a crazy internet person who posts pictures of herself all the time,” Rose professes with an unapologetic smirk. As adventurous as she is driven, consistently generating authentic and compelling content at such frequency can take a lot of creativity and inspiration. “Journaling helps me a lot. Whenever I feel uninspired or unmotivated, I go offline for a few days and spend some quality time with friends and family or escape in a delightful book or the outdoors. I guess the secret is not to care too much.” Her best advice? “Don't live your life on social media. Live it here and now. If you want to share it, share it. Life is a journey of falling and climbing. Do one thing that scares you every day.”

So, what can we expect from the cute and cultured Rose in 2020? “Something with my collections, beautiful destinations, and dogs.”
