Striking the Perfect Chord with Rudi
Singer and songwriter, Rudi Gutierrez, followed her heart all the way to the final round of ABC’s The Bachelor Presents: Listen To Your Heart. Now this need-to-know artist sits down with Bode all the way from San Antonio, Texas to discuss her music, the show, and more.
Music led Rudi to the big time of the small screen. She surfed the song waves all the way to the final round of ABC’s The Bachelor Presents: Listen To Your Heart. It was her talent and her all too relatable and quirky personality that made her an instant hit. “Fortunately for me,” Rudi says, “I think the platform that I have is because I was real and genuine on the show. I was 100% myself and the people that are behind me are behind the real Rudi. I am so thankful for that and being myself is the easiest part.” Having a passion for music from a young age, the 25 year old artist began singing at just two years old and made it all the way to the stage of Lollapalooza. Singing has always been natural for her, but it took more time to strike the perfect chord with songwriting. “I never thought I was good enough and always doubted myself until I wrote Smile,” shares the songstress. Since then her career has been nearly pitch perfect. Her songs like Hate LA and Stupid Boy have quickly become fan favorites.
From pop to R&B, and anywhere in between, Rudi’s music is the perfect accompaniment for every occasion. Offering a sound so versatile because the heartfelt and authentic performer pulls inspiration from every aspect of her life, from her friends to her favorite books to movies. However, when she is feeling anxious or trying to relax herself, she turns to the soothing sounds of worship. During quarantine and within this new normal, Rudi is just like the rest of us. She has been reading, calling friends, and having spa days. She has bridled her boredom with positivity and indulging herself in mastering new hobbies. “There is so much to learn and with the internet you can really learn anything if you want! I know it gets a little boring, but you just have to try and wake up with a positive attitude and not take all this extra time for granted,” encourages Rudi.
In a post pandemic world, this songstress is ready to continue with her music, but also for new adventures. Currently, she is focused on singing and songwriting, but her goals keep getting bigger with every hit, saying, “each song I drop will be better than the last and then hopefully some music videos too soon!” But her next industry stop may take her from the small screen to the silver screen. “Acting was my first love and I actually did really well with it when I was younger,” reveals Rudi. “For some reason I stopped when I started music, but I still would love the opportunity to get back into it.”
Rudi’s relatable personality from her time on ABC’s latest hit show also translates into her fashion senseas her approach to style is just as approachable as she is. Everyday fashion favored brands like Fashion Nova and Pretty Little Thing are staples for Rudi, allowing her to expertly rock her sexy, cool look - whether she is dressed up or down. “You can put me in a dress, but I’m still going to wear my Air Force Ones,” smirks the singer. “Usually though, I just wake up and dress according to how I’m feeling that day. I love Fashion Nova because they have that good mix of sexy, but still casual. I also like cute girly brands like Pretty Little Thing and Tiger Mist when I’m feeling more cutesy.” Her must-have wardrobe pieces? A good statement pant, a dope tee, and her tried and true Air Force Ones.
Taking her career one day at a time and being patient with the process, Rudi is pursuing her path on her terms. None of us may know what is next for the starlet, but we are excited to see where her journey leads — whether it is on the radio, television, or maybe even the theatre. But her humble gratitude is her most beautiful accessory as she offers her sincerest thank you for each and every person that has stood behind her, “no matter what. I wouldn’t be anything without [your] support!”
