The Brown Eyes Beauty Hack you Need to Know
Maybe it’s just us, but having brown eyes has always seemed a bit less impactful than the baby blues, luminous ambers and even those rare greys and emerald greens. Being a mix between brown and amber (when that light hits just right), I got curious about ways to lighten my chocolatey hued lenses. Turns out some color wheel basics are pretty helpful when it comes to enhancing eye colors, and while it seems counterintuitive, who would have thought the color brown would be one of THE magic hacks to accentuate and lighten brown eyes.
As a neutral color, brown is not on the color wheel, meaning brown eyes can pair with virtually any eyeshadow on the market, take that baby blues! However, some colors make brown eyes pop more than others. One of the best kept secrets that makeup artists have is that smudging a warm brown eye shadow, with coppery undertones, onto the lash line will bring out green and gold flashes in the eyes. To create contrast, choose shades of brown that oppose your color — i.e. light brown shadows to make dark brown eyes pop. For an even stronger look, follow the eye shadow with black liner on the waterline for extra depth. With so many shades of brown your choice of palette is far from few.
