Your French Style Guide for Spring ‘22

A Parisian Spring is calling and we have tapped THE source for all things French fashion as Franziska Nazarenus is here to share her seasonal picks to edit your wardrobe and stay one step ahead this season. Sure, we may not be able to hop on the next plane to view the infamous street styles of Paris for ourselves, but with these styling tips you can embody the sought-after essence of French elegance and grace from moderate crisp mornings to those balmy sunset eves.

But before we share what pieces are a must this season, you have to first understand the sentiment behind the french vêtements we all covet. “Life takes place outside in Paris,” begins Nazarenus. “People meet in cafés, restaurants or parks. They simply enjoy the beauty of the moment: No hurry, but being in the here and now. Parisians dress effortlessly chic, cool and yet individually. These french girl style tips helped me to refine my own style.”

Simplicity.

“The fashion philosophy, ‘Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance’ by Coco Chanel, still meets today’s zeitgeist. Parisians are masters in being minimalist.”

Adornments.

Accessories are EVERYTHING. A very basic outfit can be easily upgraded by selected pieces such as jewelry or a special bag. I, for example, love to wear my Dior saddle clutch with its legendary Dior Oblique embroidery as an eye-catcher.”

Improv.

Break in styles. I sometimes like to choose a piece for my look that is not expected. For example, when wearing a rather elegant business look, it’s cool to add a little casualness by wearing sneakers.”

“Paris has so much to offer culturally. If you are interested in fashion (as I am) you can visit exciting exhibitions every day, like at the Musée Galliera, or follow in the footsteps of great designers. I love going to places where fashion icons like Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent or Karl Lagerfeld have visited. As Audrey Hepburn used to say — Paris is always a good idea.”
